CLOSED – The Saskatchewan Sports Hall of Fame (SSHF) remains closed to the public until such time as it is safe and practical to open while also adhering to the provincial Re-Open Saskatchewan Plan. Museums are included as part of Phase Four, Part II of the Re-Open Plan. Assuming that Phase Four has been met, the SSHF is targeting September 1 to re-open the exhibit galleries to the public. Summer programming has all shifted to online delivery. Staff remains available via their personal emails and general requests or questions can be sent to [email protected]×
On November 19, 2013, the SSHF hosted the world premiere for our three vignettes celebrating the Saskatchewan Roughriders and their involvement with the Grey Cup as participants, hosts and champions. As Grey Cup 2013 unfolded it became quite apparent that our “new” videos were only historically correct up to Sunday, November 17, 2013, resulting in some significant post production work.
The updated vignettes, which were previously only visible at the Hall of Fame, can now be seen below. They provide the SSHF with a tremendous opportunity to showcase the Roughrider permanent collection and involve many of our inductees.
The SSHF is grateful for the financial support from the Community Initiatives Fund and Saskatchewan Lotteries which made the production of these vignettes possible.
Special thanks to:

As you probably know by now, Saskatchewan and the Grey Cup – Hope and Heartbreak, Saskatchewan and the Grey Cup – The Winning Years, and Saskatchewan and the Grey Cup: A Community Embrace comprise a series of three 6-minute vignettes that feature the Saskatchewan Roughrider Football Club’s involvement in “the Big Game” over the years as Grey Cup participants, champions and hosts. Produced by the Saskatchewan Sports Hall of Fame with funding provided by the Community Initiatives Fund and Fire Cube Video, these vignettes are the perfect length to capture the interest and attention of our visitors, and provide the SSHF with a tremendous opportunity to showcase the Roughrider permanent collection and involve many of our inductees.
Originally produced to be premiered during Grey Cup week, we were more than a little smug about the fact that the vignettes are now only historically correct to November 17, 2013. In the weeks following Grey Cup Fire Cube Video has been busy putting together additional footage of the festivities, the game itself, and the memories and experiences of some of those individuals who were in the thick of things.
One of these individuals is Richie Hall, Defensive Coordinator / Linebackers Coach, who has been involved in three of the four Grey Cups won by the Saskatchewan Roughrider Football Club. The interview was pretty awesome as Richie had a lot to share. So much so that we thought we would release the whole interview (in its original raw cut) because, unfortunately, we know that only a few select sound bites will make it into the final reworked versions of Saskatchewan and the Grey Cup.
We anticipate that post-production on the vignettes will be completed within the next couple of weeks and the revised versions will be available to our visiting public by late January. At the present time the vignettes are only available for viewing within the SSHF galleries due to copyright permissions. Stop by and check them out. It’s the perfect way to fill a lunch break.
In the meantime, sit back and relax and enjoy the insights into the Grey Cup wins of the Saskatchewan Roughriders as recalled by Richie Hall.
The SSHF thanks Richie for granting access for our interview and gratefully acknowledges the financial support of the Community Initiatives Fund to make this project a reality.
With the holiday season now upon us and things getting as busy as ever for all of us, we wanted to do something to keep you all in the loop as to what is happening at the Hall of Fame. The last couple of months have been amazing, not to mention busy for us, so there is a lot to cover.
In this issue of For The Record you will find a message from both our President, Trent Fraser, as well as Executive Director, Sheila Kelly. In addition you will find updated information on some of our inductees, along with a full recap of Grey Cup fever in Regina and the world premiere of our latest video project.
Thanks to everyone for your support of the Saskatchewan Sports Hall of Fame in 2013 and we look forward to seeing all of you in the New Year!
