2019 Summer Programming
Creating Active Champions

Want something to do with your children this summer? Want to learn more about your favourite Saskatchewan Sports legends? For the cost of $1 per person you and your children will get a tour of the Saskatchewan Sports Hall of Fame, activities on our multisport simulator, adaptive curling rink, and outdoor games in Victoria Park. Plus, each participant will leave the program with an awesome surprise to help them remain active champions!

NEW for 2019!

Monday – Friday:
For individuals and groups ages 4-12
Up to 30 participants per time slot
9:30-11 a.m.
1:30-3 p.m.

Programming runs from July 2 to August 16, 2019

Cost is $1 per person.  For ages 4-12, maximum 30 children per time slot
Adult chaperones must be present at all times

All individuals and groups must pre-register

POINTS TO REMEMBER:

  • Outside activities will only proceed weather permitting. During inclement weather, all activities will take place inside the Saskatchewan Sports Hall of Fame (SSHF).
  • All group leaders/parents/guardians/chaperones must ensure the child is dressed for the weather and outfitted with sunscreen, bug spray and water bottles. Refillable water bottles are fine as we do have a water fountain available in the building.
  • Drawstring backpack’s are available while quantities last and only on first visit. Everyone will still receive a gift to help them remain active champions.
  • An adult chaperone must be present at all times with groups and individuals. We encourage their participation as well!
  • Programming fee for groups can be paid by cash, cheque or credit card. We do not have debit available at the location. Individual programming fee (i.e. $1) must be paid in cash.
  • The SSHF reserves the right to cancel the program session if a minimum of 5 participants are not enrolled.
  • Pre-registraton must occur a minimum 24 hours in advance while programming space remains available.

Saskatchewan Sport Incorporated Adaptive Sport Grants

Saskatchewan has the second highest rate in Canada of people who live with a disability at 14.5%. Sport can play an important role in the lives of people with a disability by being part of a healthy lifestyle and providing access to a social network and peer support while developing self-discipline and positive self esteem. Sask Sport Inc. is investing in these two programs because we believe all people, regardless of ability, should be given the chance to participate in sport activities.

Who is eligible to apply?
Local or community clubs/organizations can apply with the endorsement of an Sask Sport Inc. Active/Affiliate member; a provincial sport organization or a district. Active or Affiliate members of Sask Sport Inc. who are on the eligibility list of the Saskatchewan Lotteries Trust Fund.

What is the source of funding?
The program is made possible through the financial contributions from the Saskatchewan Lotteries Trust Fund for Sport, Culture and Recreation and is administered through Sask Sport Inc.

What is the approval process & application deadlines?
There are two application deadlines April 15th and October 15th. Once the applications have been received an adjudication committee will meet to determine the recipients. Approximately 6 weeks after the deadline, organizations will be informed of the status of their application.

How do I apply?
It’s really easy, download an application form at: www.sasksport.sk.ca/adaptiveSport.php and provide as much detail as possible, answering each of the planning questions. Submit the application prior to the application deadlines of April 15 & October 15 of each year.

I Love Regina Day on July 19th

The Saskatchewan Sports Hall of Fame will be participating in this year’s I Love Regina Day on July 19th 2014. Located in Victoria Park, I Love Regina Day is a day for families to come out and celebrate our city. Running from 9:00 am – 2:00 pm, this event consists of a free BBQ (while quantities last), the Regina Farmer’s Market, tons of children’s activities and exhibitors.

The SSHF will have a table set up with children’s sports games and activities. We will also have the Hall open to visitors, so be sure to stop in and check out our feature exhibit Sports in Shorts, as well as enjoy our air conditioning.

Our hours for I Love Regina Day will be 9:00 am – 3:00 pm. Admission will be by donation all day.

Ice & Fire Festival

The Ice & Fire Festival is a five-day celebration of winter art, culture and recreational experiences.  A constellation of activities will take place throughout the city over the course of the five days with the Festival culminating in Victoria Park on Family Day (February 17).  Full Festival details can be found at this link http://www.newdancehorizons.ca/performance/fire-ice-festival/ or you can stop by the SSHF and pick up a printed schedule.

Join us at the Hall for special Festival activities.

·         The grand opening of a new exhibit, Skating….Saskatchewan Style, will take place on Saturday, February 15.  We will be offering special hours of operation from 11:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.  Refreshments will be served.  Free Admission will be offered all day.

·         On Monday, February 17 (Family Day) we will again be offering special hours of operation from 11:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.  Refreshments will be served.  Free Admission will be offered all day. The SSHF will also be sponsoring Harvey MacFarlane and the Sanguine Clydes Sleigh Rides between 2:00 – 4:00 p.m.  The sleigh rides begin in the Plaza area of Victoria Park.
