Behind the Inductee – Dorenda Bailey

Behind the Inductee for August features an interview with curler Dorenda Bailey.

Bailey, under the name Dorenda Schoenhals, skipped her Saskatchewan rink to the 1970 Canadian Ladies Curling Association Championship. Bailey sat down with curator Robyn Jensen to discuss her career on the pebbled ice as well as working as an official statistician at the 2010 and 2014 Winter Olympics and coaching a South Korean curling team that featured Gim Eun-ji who went on to compete in two Olympics and seven world championships.

This month’s Behind the Inductee feature is part of a monthly series where the Hall of Fame goes behind the stories of Saskatchewan sport history. In July, we went Behind the Inductee with Ross Wilson who is a member of the 2026 Induction Class as a basketball builder. In June, Robyn went Behind the Artifact with 2019 inductee Wendel Clark.
