“Native Kids Ride Bikes”

Start Date: Monday, January 9, 2017
End Date: Monday, January 23, 2017

We are thrilled to have Dylan Miner’s project, “Native Kids Ride Bikes” on display until January 23. To learn more about this collaborative effort, please read the artist statement below:

The MacKenzie Art Gallery, in partnership with the Dunlop Art Gallery, invited Michigan-based artist Dylan Miner to create this featured art installation with Regina artists and community participants. During the collaborative five-week residency, which began in the spring of 2016, Dylan Miner worked directly with four local artists, each engaging a community group in the creation of a low-rider bike, a continuation of his well-known Anishnaabensag Biimskowebshkigewag (Native Kids Ride Bikes) series. The four local artists in the project are Keith Bird, Katherine Boyer, Stacey Fayant, and Eagleclaw Thom. The four community partners include Mother Theresa Middle School, Kitchener Community School, Regina Public Library-Albert Branch, and the North Central Community Association.

We are extremely proud to be the first stop for the bikes on their tour around Regina. Come down to the SSHF and see them for yourself!
