Behind the Artifact – Cameron Baerg

The Saskatchewan Sports Hall of Fame’s Behind the Artifact for November focuses on 2026 inductee Cameron Baerg. SSHF curator Robyn Jensen sat down with Baerg during our Induction weekend as Baerg was enshrined in the Hall of Fame.

Baerg got started with a learn-to-row program with the Saskatoon Rowing Club and made quick progress, two years later he won a silver medal in men’s eights and a bronze in men’s fours with Saskatchewan at the Canada Summer Games in Saskatoon in 1989.

Baerg won a silver medal in the men’s rowing coxless fours at the 2004 Olympic Games in Athens. Baerg and the Canadian fours also won the 2003 world championship in Milan.

The Behind the Artifact feature is part of a monthly series where the Hall of Fame goes behind the stories of Saskatchewan sport history. Last month, another member of the 2026 induction class, Brianne Theisen-Eaton, was featured in a Behind the Inductee. Another 2026 inductee, basketball builder Ross Wilson, was featured. Dorenda Bailey has also been featured in a Behind the Inductee. Previous Behind the Artifact interviews have featured Hayley Wickenheiser and Wendel Clark.
