Dedication to Sport available as a virtual tour

The Saskatchewan Sports Hall of Fame’s newest virtual tour features the exhibits of our 13 newest inductees.

The 2021 and 2022 induction classes were enshrined concurrently at the SSHF’s 54th Induction Dinner & Ceremony. Dedication to Sport: Our New Inductees features artifacts and stories from that great double-class of SSHF inductees.

Dedication to Sport is available as a virtual tour thanks to our partnership with Queen City 3D in Regina. Each tour allows the user to navigate through the space of the exhibit and click on tags inside the tour that offer stories, photos and videos to complement the exhibit.

This is one of several virtual tours that are available on our website which preserves them for the future and fulfills our province-wide mandate.

The Class of 2021 features athletes Justin Abdou (Moose Jaw – Wrestling), Rod M. Boll (Fillmore – Trapshooting), Colette Bourgonje (Porcupine Plain – Athletics and Skiing), Kaylyn Kyle (Saskatoon – Soccer), and Lyndon Rush (Humboldt – Bobsleigh). Shannon Miller (Tisdale – Hockey) joins the 2021 class as a builder and the 2000-01 University of Regina Cougars Women’s Basketball Team and the 2013 Saskatchewan Roughriders Football Club are being inducted in the team category.

The five members of the Class of 2022 are: Kelsie Hendry (Saskatoon – Athletics), Harry Winston Jerome OC (Prince Albert – Athletics), Rueben Mayes (North Battleford – Football) in the athlete category plus Antonia “Toni” Beerling (Rosthern – Athletics) and William “Bill” Brownridge (Vawn – Hockey) in the builder category.

Fanfare now available as a virtual tour

Fanfare, the Saskatchewan Sports Hall of Fame’s featured exhibit, is now available as a virtual tour.

This exhibit shares the history of the Grey Cup and Saskatchewan both through the participation of Roughrider teams and also the four occasions where Regina has hosted the Canadian Football League’s championship game. Fanfare features some of the 16mm film footage that the Hall of Fame had digitized recently. The exhibit also celebrates the festival of fun around Grey Cup week and the communal qualities of professional football in Saskatchewan.

This virtual tour was created in partnership with Queen City 3D in Regina. The tour allows the user to navigate through the space of the exhibit and click on tags inside the tour that offer stories, photos and videos that complement the physical exhibit that is on display.

STEM Interactive Gallery sponsored by SaskTel now available as a virtual tour

The Saskatchewan Sports Hall of Fame’s new STEM Interactive Gallery sponsored by SaskTel is now available to explore as a virtual tour.

The STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) Interactive Gallery features a series of  “how-to” and “experimental” videos related to each aspect of STEM and is tailored towards visitors between 4-16 years of age. This gallery and virtual tour promotes activities that can be easily done at home while learning about the connection of sport to science, technology, engineering, and math.

Visitors to the STEM Interactive Gallery can test their vertical jump, their balance, their strength, their standing long jump, their flexibility, and their grip strength while also learning about some of the ways Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math are changing the sporting world.

STEM has been a growing field in schools for many years. While these topics can feel sedentary, the STEM Interactive Gallery allows students to mix learning with physical activity.

The STEM Interactive Gallery also helps bring some of the accomplishments of our SSHF inductees to life through to-scale measurements.

In partnership with White Rabbit VR in Regina, this is the fourth virtual tour that has captured an exhibit at the Saskatchewan Sports Hall of Fame. Our current featured exhibit – the national award-winning Prairie Pride: A History of Saskatchewan Football is available online as is Dedication to Sport: Our 2019 Inductees which celebrates our latest induction class.

Our first virtual tour from 2018, Diamond Girls’ Diamond Anniversary: 75 Years of the AAGPBL, also remains available to explore.

New virtual tour features 2019 Induction Class

Dedication to Sport: Our 2019 Inductees is the newest exhibit to become a virtual tour.

Dedication to Sport opened in September of 2019 on the occasion of the Saskatchewan Sports Hall of Fame’s 52nd Induction Ceremony and Dinner. The 2019 Induction Class featured Chris Biegler (basketball), Wendel Clark (hockey), Jacki Nichol (softball), Kelly Parker (soccer), Marg [Curry] Sihvon (basketball) and Colleen Sostorics (hockey) as well as builders Clarence Campbell (hockey) and Bill Kinash (cycling) to the Hall of Fame.

This exhibit features artifacts, photos and stories from each of those inductees. While the exhibit is intended to last for one year, the 2019 Class graciously allowed the Hall of Fame to continue to display their collections after the COVID-19 pandemic prevented the induction of a new in class in 2020.

Our Dedication to Sport virtual tour features the induction video from each member of the 2019 Induction Class at the base of their display. Additional stories and descriptions are available by clicking on the round tags that accompany the tour.

In partnership with White Rabbit VR in Regina, this is the third virtual tour that has captured an exhibit at the Saskatchewan Sports Hall of Fame. Our current featured exhibit Prairie Pride: A History of Saskatchewan Football is available online.

Our latest exhibit,  Prairie Pride: A History of Saskatchewan Football, opened on September 2, 2020 and we are pleased to offer you a virtual tour to explore this exhibit which chronicles the province’s passion for football since its earliest days.

Filled with stories, artifacts and photos from more than 100 years of Saskatchewan football, Prairie Pride captures some of the history of the sport at a number of levels and leagues. In partnership with White Rabbit VR in Regina, the virtual tour features tags that expand photos and add captions, context and stories the artifacts. Look for screens around the tour that will lead you to video content as well.

We are sure you will learn something new as you spend time exploring the exhibit.
