The Saskatchewan Hall of Fame (SSHF) is pleased to partner with Canadian Sports Centre Saskatchewan (CSCS) to bring Lisa DeJong in that weekend during the Frost winter festival.
Lisa DeJong is from Biggar and won a silver medal in snowboard cross at the 2022 Beijing Paralympics. In 2024 she published the kids’ book Lucy’s Fancy Leg which brings awareness to and celebrates disability in a light-hearted, funny way. It helps children with a disability, as well as able-bodied children, feel comfortable with disability and see it in a positive light.
Lisa will do a public reading of Lucy’s Fancy Leg at the Regina Public Library’s downtown branch from 12-1 p.m. on Saturday, February 1 during Frost hosted by the SSHF and CSCS. Following the reading, the Saskatchewan Wheelchair Sports Association will be on-site in Victoria Park with equipment and athletes to further explore winter para sports in Saskatchewan.
During February and March, any visitor to the Hall of Fame aged 10 or under will receive a free copy of Lucy’s Fancy Leg. The SSHF also has an exhibit on the province’s winter Paralympians called Para Winter Heroes, which is currently on display.
