In 2016, the Saskatchewan Sports Hall of Fame launched its first-ever mobile traveling exhibit.
The exhibit was housed in a converted 53-foot semi-trailer filled to the brim with artifacts that speak to Saskatchewan’s rich sport history. To commemorate the SSHF’s 50th anniversary, the mobile exhibit trailer embarked on an ambitious provincial tour visiting 45 communities in 58 days and racking up 10,304 kilometres in the process.
The mobile exhibit trailer is unique amongst halls of fame in Canada and allowed the SSHF to fulfill its mandate of preserving and sharing Saskatchewan’s sport history with the entire province.
In 2017, the trailer was back on the road as part of several Canada 150 events making a dozen appearances throughout the summer. Since then, the mobile exhibit trailer continues to be in use making appearances at sport-related special events around the province.
Before the COVID-19 pandemic, the mobile travelling exhibit trailer was used to support our Never Give Up program which sees our SSHF inductees travel to schools to share their inspiring stories of perseverance.
The continued use of the mobile exhibit trailer would not be possible without the funding and support of Hornoi Leasing, Sterling Truck & Trailer Sales, and SaskTel.
