A Highlight of Service: Stories from Veteran Inductees

Start Date: Saturday, October 26, 2024
End Date: Friday, December 6, 2024

The Saskatchewan Sports Hall of Fame recognizes the outstanding accomplishments of Saskatchewan athletes, builders, and teams in their sporting careers, we also tell the stories of inductees’ collective impact outside of sport.

As Remembrance Day nears, the SSHF has a new exhibit, A Highlight of Service: Stories from Veteran Inductees, which shares the stories of some of the Hall’s inductees who are also veterans.

Inductees often displayed the same virtues on and off the field, this is particularly true of our veteran inductees. Veterans show courage, selflessness, and determination as members of the Canadian military, skills they often used in their sporting pursuits beyond their military involvement. There are more than 100 veteran inductees in the Hall of Fame have served their country.

Among the inductees whose stories and artifacts are highlighted in this year’s exhibit are Sid Abel, Sandy Archer, Julien Audette, Joseph Austman, Leonard Bath, Calvin Bricker, Hank Hartenberger, Ossie Herlen, Charles McCool, and Dr. Robert Reid.
